“Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship.” Romans 12:1

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with you body.” 1Corinthians 6:19

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

The papers are turned in, cram sessions are over, and tests are taken. Now you can finally relax. School is officially over! All the daydreaming of vegging out on the couch and eating all the junk food you want can finally be a reality, but should it? As summer begins, our initial reaction is to just be lazy and not do anything. We think we owe it to ourselves to just take a break from everything, but is that the best thing to do? Although we have worked hard during the year, God desires more of us than just that. God wants our whole body. He desires for us to be active and healthy all the time. The very body that he has given each of us is His property, and He desires us to keep it healthy. He doesn’t desire us to be in "perfect shape", but He does want us to be healthy and that can only come from being active. Simple things such as: eating healthy foods, cutting out on all the junk food, taking a walk, going out to the lake, or getting some friends together to play volleyball would be great for your body. The important thing is to stay active. This does not have to be a boring experience. You can get your friends involved - make it a team effort. It is much easier to stay physically active when you have friends there to encourage you, so get a group of friends together and commit to have fun and stay active this summer!
