Family:

Summer is one of the hardest times to deal with family because school is out and we tend to see our friends less and our families more. Not only are we at home more, but most families take family vacations which calls for several days of quality time together. Don't get us wrong, family is a wonderful thing. But we can all agree that it can be challenging at times to keep a good attitude, especially if your parents are divorced and you are forced to split your summer between both parents. Here are some tips on how to deal with family in a way that is pleasing to God...

Start your day with God. Since you no longer have to rush off to school, you should take advantage of your free time by giving some of it to God. Starting your day with prayer will prepare you for the day and help you get your attitude in check first thing. If you have siblings, invite them to pray with you for your family. Check out Psalm 34:8!

Try to help out around the house. It has been proven that when we help others, we feel better about ourselves. By getting off the couch and helping around the house, you will not only help your parents buy you will also start to notice that you feel productive and good about yourself.

Summer will be a much better experience if you can maintain a servant's heart when dealing with your family. Start this summer by viewing your family as a gift from God and strive hard to treat them as one!
